CLOAK (dervinBATARLO + LAURA FISHMAN) @ SEAMS exhibition by SWEET’ART

dervinBATARLO CLOAK

The above artwork titled CLOAK is a collaborative sculpture piece by Laura Fishman and dervinBATARLO. With Batarlo’s skills in fashion design and pattern cutting, CLOAK was produced using more than six (up to ten, if I’m not mistaken) ‘liquid paintings’ by Fishman. This multicoloured artwork (check Laura Fishman’s website to see its original colours) will be exhibited as part of the SEAMS exhibition this coming September, during London Fashion Week, brought to you by Sweet’Art. Come and join us on September 13th (2014) for the private view. Check the flyer (below) for more details or you can contact me via Twitter (dervinbatarlo) or email (dervinbatarlo.icloud.com).

plaid shirts and floor-skimming skirts @ QASIMI AW12

The baseball caps and the boxy tops layered over the shirts in Qasimi‘s autumn/winter 2012 collection gives the collection a boyish and slightly urban look. Soft and transparent plaid shirts are juxtaposed with the heaviness of the floor-skimming skirts, which create great balance. The ultra-long skirts does not threaten its masculine look, making the skirt a more acceptable piece of garment for men.

WORLDWIDE CARPETS by DAVID HANAUER

More on my obsession with aerial photography; David Hanauer cleverly applied Google Earth images into carpets. You can now enjoy aerial view of different cities in the comfort of your own home.

menswear collection based on blindness by KEIKO KIDA

This collection got my attention, not because of the men in skirts but the actual idea of it. Keiko Kida, an MA graduate from London College of Fashion created a menswear collection based on blindness. Not only it is conceptual but the pieces are also wearable and stylish. It includes wide-legged trousers, cropped jacket, asymmetrical coat with a funnel sleeve and an interesting pair of hybrid shoes.
