MYKROMAG interviews IRIS VAN HERPEN

“I do not sculpt with wood, marble or stone, but I do search for shape and complex detailing with more uncommon materials than fabrics. I see the female body as my canvas, as my starting point. And it is not the body that I try to re-invent, because the body is a perfect whole and system, it is the image, her radiation, her expression that I want to invent as something modern or even as a vision of the future. So I try to empower the ‘invisible, non-material’ of the woman -not the body on its own- with something material as ‘clothes’.”

- Iris Van Herpen

Megan Macintosh | Rochester Graduate 2011

I must say this is my favourite item of clothing from all the recent graduates from my alma materUniversity for the Creative Arts. Megan Macintosh studied BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier (in Rochester campus, Kent). I love her modern interpretation of the trench coat, with the leather harness, giving it a slight bondage-y look.
