African-inspired menswear collection (SS13) by TRINE LINDEGAARD

Trine Lindegaard used vibrant and refreshing colours for her spring/summer 2013 collection. The look is sporty, which include very wearable pieces, using bold colours layered over darker palette. The geometric patterns of the ‘kita’, a wonderful and unique West African fabric, not only gives the garments a more graphic and modern look but also raises awareness of the ancient craft. It also promotes the traditional (and almost extinct) fabric as well as the African communities who produce this fantastic textile.

Moving away from the digital world, Dries Van Noten returned to the more traditional world of screen printing for his spring/summer 2013 ready-to-wear collection. As always, the result is just wonderful. The combination of checks and floral print is similar to the way the designer have been combining the masculine with the feminine for most of his collections. Showing relaxed and casual aesthetic, the collection also includes couture-like pieces in the form of the heavily flower-decorated skirts and jackets. Along with the loose silhouettes, other pieces are cinched in on the waist and some feature peplums accentuating the waist and the hips.

Dries Van Noten menswear spring/summer 2013 – camouflage print comes in different colours. Great details – velcro tapes both in shirts and trousers as fasteners, padded vests and belted coats, ankle-zipped trousers.
