Twenty (2) Too‘s spring/summer 2012 menswear collection caught my attention, mainly to do with my obsession with men in skirts and gender-breaking clothing. Minimal colour palette with some reds and blues injected to some pieces, the clothes are modern and youthful. The collection by Mihai Dan, based in (Bucharest) Romania, consists of long tunics/smocks/dresses (for men?), ankle-length skirts. jumpsuits and a lot of cropped leggings.

From demure (AW 2011) to camp, Joao Pimenta‘s SS 2012 collection is fun and rather daring as opposed to the sombre and solemn looks of his AW collection - as one would expect from a winter collection. Stripped of the pinafore dresses, out comes the embellished sheer bodysuits.

The collection also consists of all-white/cement looks (as well as some colourful and vibrant outfits), featuring knee-length culottes, long sleeveless tops, hybrid skirt/trousers and super wide-legged trousers.

adidas SLVR has injected some athleticism to their spring/summer 2012′s tailored pieces making it fresh and modern, in the form of a webbing belt with plastic buckle – something you’d find in airports, normally in a variety of bright colours attached to suitcases. Functional and definitely very stylish.

I can imagine that a unisex collection is difficult to market because although, women are open to be adventurous and be more androgynous, men are still old-fashioned when it comes to what they wear. Having said that, there are groups of men today that are happy to play with their looks; those who are confident to wear even a feminine ensemble. The great thing about Rad Hourani‘s unisex collection is that the pieces are neither masculine nor feminine. The look is modern and structured, which features wide and layered lapels in blue, white and petrol.
