art: 16 m by LOS CARPINTEROS

The tunnel-like hole destructs the consistency and calmness of the methodical and orderly hanged garments. Extraordinary work by Los Carpinteros (via peterkilchmann.com)

art/illustration: EMILY BARLETTA

Pretty repetitive: found via Trendland, not only I’m in love with the colour Emily Barletta chose but also the minimalist aesthetic of her works. It is rather addictive, especially her needlework that resemble mountains.

3D works by DANIEL ARSHAM

Using plaster, paint, rubber, fabric and foam; artist Daniel Arsham transformed and gave character to these blank walls. The minimalist fluidity of his work applied to the walls create a surreal and playful atmosphere.

CONTINUOUS by LORNA PRIDMORE

Recently exhibited at Hackney Downs Studios as part of ‘Once Upon in Wintertime’ group exhibition. Aptly titled ‘Continuous’, Lorna Pridmore cleverly and painstakingly used drawing pins to create this extraordinary piece. Repetitively applied, turning a collection of ordinary objects into a spectacular sculpture, the drawing pins resemble a serpent’s scales, which relates to one of the artist’s inspirations – the Ouroboros, ‘an ancient symbol depicting a serpent or dragon eating its own tail’

.jpg by JACOB RIDDLE

Interesting way of presenting an image in a non-photographic form.

“.jpg All digital files are made up of information. This is the biggest difference between what is virtual and what is physical. .jpg is an acknowledgment of the digital information that creates what we view as an image. Beyond just acknowledging the image information, the code is manifested in the physical world in several different non-photographic forms. These non-photographic representations of a image’s digital information draw attention to the sheer volume of information needed to create these image files. .jpg also redefines the parameters of a ‘photograph’. None of the output is arranged as what is commonly recognized as a photograph; but at it’s core, what the audience experiences is derived from an image captured with a camera.” – Jacob Riddle

NATHALIE DJURBERG (w/ music by HANS BERG) @ CAMDEN ARTS CENTRE

‘A World of Glass ‘ is Nathalie Djurberg’s new exhibition at the Camden Arts Centre, which consist of brilliant and beautifully displayed glass-like objects and four synchronised animated (claymation) films that are both wonderful and disturbing, complete with great soundtrack by Hans Berg.

‘The crude materiality of the animations seems playful but the scenarios enacted are often disturbing, uncovering taboos or difficult aspects of the human condition such as vulnerability, desire and suffering.’ – Camden Arts Centre
