Apart from the fantastic looks that were minimal and monochromatic, which I love and could easily wear, I totally love how Dries Van Noten fused art and fashion through his menswear a/w 2012 runway - by commissioning artists to paint a mural on the runway’s backdrop. I also adore the ‘floral-galactic prints.’

I can imagine that a unisex collection is difficult to market because although, women are open to be adventurous and be more androgynous, men are still old-fashioned when it comes to what they wear. Having said that, there are groups of men today that are happy to play with their looks; those who are confident to wear even a feminine ensemble. The great thing about Rad Hourani‘s unisex collection is that the pieces are neither masculine nor feminine. The look is modern and structured, which features wide and layered lapels in blue, white and petrol.

Fantastic autumn/winter collection from Costume National by Ennio Capasa. I can definitely see myself wear most of the looks. I adore the long ribbed tunic tops and cropped fitted trousers. I also love the detailing of the jackets (with ribbed sleeves) and the trench coats worn like backpacks.

With the exception of two coloured sweaters – one in brown and the other in green – Jil Sander‘s menswear autumn/winter 2012 collection by Raf Simons is very monochromatic. Plenty of leather pieces such as belted coats, jackets, tops and trousers. Majority of the silhouettes are fitted and most of the looks are  slick and (of course) minimal.

Menswear has come a long way and the modern-thinking men of today are adding excitement to their wardrobe; some play it safe but some are not scared to challenge themselves, experimenting with their styles, the silhouette and colour. Although menswear fashion today is a lot more exciting, it is still restricted to its generic silhouette. Designers such as Trine Lindegaard find menswear tricky, so she focuses on colour and detailing to make her pieces stand out.

Using plaster, paint, rubber, fabric and foam; artist Daniel Arsham transformed and gave character to these blank walls. The minimalist fluidity of his work applied to the walls create a surreal and playful atmosphere.

I love the sinister look of Sinta Werner‘s photo collage – from the series ‘Zwischen Lenggries und Schwarz’. It looks as if an invisible alien aircraft has landed and slowly taking over the mountains.
